Early Childhood Ireland’s largest annual fundraising initiative
National Pyjama Day is Early Childhood Ireland’s largest annual fundraising initiative, celebrating 20 years in 2023. This highly anticipated event brings together over 65,000 children from 1,300 settings across Ireland, all donning their cosiest pyjamas to raise vital funds for projects and charities that support young children.
More than just a day of fun and comfort in pyjamas, National Pyjama Day embodies the spirit of children helping children. The funds raised each year play a crucial role in fostering the wellbeing of the youngest members of our community. Last year, in addition to backing the autism charity AsIAm, contributions also funded the launch of the ‘Eco-Emotions’ project. This year, proceeds from National Pyjama Day 2024 will support Sensational Kids and continue to support the Eco-Emotions project.
Why Eco-Emotions?
Developed from valuable feedback from educators, Eco-Emotions aims to address the disconnect between children’s emotional wellbeing and environmental awareness. By integrating this project into daily practices and activities, we support educators in empowering children to develop a stronger bond with nature, enhance their emotional regulation skills, and foster a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation. Ultimately, Eco-Emotions seeks to create a more sustainable and emotionally aware community within Early Years and School Age Care, preparing children to become caring and environmentally conscious citizens in the future.
National Pyjama Day is a heart warming event that combines joy and purpose, making a meaningful impact in the lives of children across Ireland.
