At Early Childhood Ireland, we are dedicated to understanding the needs of our members through all our projects. Our research efforts aim to gain insights into our members’ experiences and the support they require to excel in their work with children. By collecting direct feedback, we generate valuable data that informs the development and implementation of our programmes and projects, ensuring that the support we provide is both relevant and impactful in Early Years and School Age Care.
As part of the Eco-Emotions project, we set out to assess the knowledge and needs of Early Childhood Ireland members regarding Eco-Emotions. To this end, we created a member-focused survey aimed at gathering insights to better understand their requirements, alongside conducting desk-based research on the topic.
We are pleased to announce that the analysis of the collected data is complete, and the final report and executive summary are now available. With these findings, we aim to enhance our members’ expertise and develop resources that promote self-regulation and sustainability. Our next steps will involve expanding our research on this topic to more effectively address the needs of children, families, and educators. Ultimately, we aspire to empower children by enriching their learning experiences, fostering collaborative relationships, aiding in their self-regulation and wellbeing, and encouraging sustainable practices that strengthen their connection to the environment and community.
This section provides data from the participants in the Understanding Eco-Emotions Survey. The majority of responses came from staff in sessional preschool settings, who primarily work with ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education) children. This is important because it shows us who took part in the survey and the type of environments they work in. Knowing that most responses came from sessional preschools with ECCE children helps us better understand the survey results and make sure that the resources and recommendations we create are relevant to similar settings, like full day care services and childminding services. A total of 48 responses were received for the understanding Eco-Emotions survey.
