Survey Data

The “Understanding Eco-Emotions” survey 2024 presents a comprehensive picture of current practices in the Early Years and School Age Care, with a focus on child participation, curriculum planning, daily routines, stress management, and the integration of art, music, and outdoor play. Conducted among members of Early Childhood Ireland, this survey collected both quantitative and qualitative data to understand educators’ perspectives on the role of children’s emotions and creative expression in their learning environments. With the aim of gaining insights into how children’s voices are incorporated into planning and decision-making processes, the survey highlights the significance of emotional regulation for both children and educators. The methodology involved a mixed-methods approach, capturing a range of experiences and practices through structured questions and open-ended responses. This data will inform the next phase of the Eco-Emotions project, promoting the importance of emotional wellbeing and advocating for nature-based methods in Early Years and School Age Care.
